Friendship,
Love,
& Truth…
In 1819, the first Odd Fellows lodge
was formed in Baltimore, becoming
The Independent Order
Of Odd Fellows and quickly spread.
With the 1849 Gold Rush in California
came many thousands of people
from all over the world, amongst
them Odd Fellows.
It is well known that the establishment
of Odd Fellow Lodges, in most all
mining towns, was key in the promotion
of civil behavior and law and order.
In 1855 Memento, Lodge #37 was formed in Georgetown. In 1880 they bought the building on the corner of Georgetown Road
and Main St. They removed the roof
and built a second story meeting room
and provided a town hall on the ground floor,
much as you see it today.

Unleashing the hero within…
The Independent Order of the Odd Fellows (IOOF), also known as the Three Link Fraternity, is an altruistic and benevolent fraternal organization derived from the similar British Odd Fellows service organizations which came into being during the 18th century, at a time when altruistic and charitable acts were far less common.
Today, the IOOF is dedicated to the following purposes:
-
To improve and elevate the character of mankind by promoting the principles of friendship, love, truth, faith, hope, charity and universal justice.
-
To help make the world a better place to live by aiding each other, the community, the less fortunate, the youth, the elderly and the environment in every way possible.
-
To promote good will and harmony amongst peoples and nations through the principle of universal fraternity, holding the belief that all men and women regardless of race, nationality, religion, social status, gender, rank and station are brothers and sisters.
ABOUT US

Our goal is elevating humanity...
The Georgetown Memento Lodge #37 is 171 years strong. It was established March 22, 1855. IOOF stands for the Independent Order Of Odd Fellows and originated in a Pub in England in 1748. The Odd Fellow name came from the founding members of many different trades
who were not able to join established beneficial groups. Perhaps this is where the phrase
"odd jobs" originated.
